Responsibility - by Rurik Grimnisson

Technology breeds its owns stresses. Our post-modern world has turned the focus once again inwards. Not so different from intelligent foci of the medieaval times really - they had alchemy and mechanics; we have psychosomatic biochemistry and nanocybernetics.

As 'civilization' moves further from its connection with the earth the intuitive individual, by default, searches for meaning within him/herself. This internal journey allows once again the reconnection with old ones - the wights who share the ørlog of the nine worlds.

The Svartalfa are the archetypal entities from which we draw our technological inspiration. As computers and digital cybernetic systems are both dependent on and generate electromagnetic fields, we have a strange form of pseudo-life created; one that influences other electro magnetic field generators - namely humans. What have we created? Why do the Svartalfa assist us? What is in it for them? How does this relationship affect the Ørlog of Midgard? How do the Æsir & Vanir feel about it?

In other words, what mythological Wyrd are we creating by the use of our free will? Are we, the children of Ask and Embla maturing? Or are we accelerating the manifestation of Ragnarok? Does Odhinn help us or does he manipulate us? Do we see what he sees? Have we the vision?

As individuals, how many of you have made ANY sacrifice into Mimir's Well? Have you drank from its water? The pain that accompanies the draught can destroy the ignorant joy of Midgardian existence within you. A high price you think but ignorance is replaced with an Æsiric comprehension whose meaning is hinted at through the WUNJO rune. Divine intoxication is a heady drop - not for the weak willed. Its gift takes you to the limits of human endurance for you see the never-ending cycles of birth, death and rebirth. And the truth of human existence - pain & suffering which are self generated because of the ignorance to the duality of our true nature - both beast and god - hinted at through the MANNAZ rune. From this awakening state of consciousness one has choices (to name a few) - to follow the path of Odhinn and do all within one's power to enlighten the folk to their potential and responsibility; follow the path of the Vanir who do all within their power to consciously regenerate and maintain the manifested worlds - the electromagnetic patterns of the 9 worlds: heal and comfort. Both paths are manifestations of Önd - divine consciousness. Or we can choose to ignore our potential - stumble on in self absorbed bestial narcissistic indulgent ignorance, laying down undesirable ørlog. With this choice we unwittingly become the allies of Loki as the leader of the Helia's legions whom, at the Ragnarok, are the enemies of consciousness and nature.

IS your vehicle that of the shimmering bridge or that made from dead men's nail-clippings. When the Gjallahorn sounds, where will you stand on the Idavoll plane (the dimension of ancestral connection)?

Heavy stuff, I agree but each cycle of Midgardian rebirth is precious. Grab the moment before Heliaa embraces you and gives you the kiss of sweet oblivion.

Fear No Evil

"And even though I walk
through the shadow
of the Iron Woods
I will fear no evil.

For I am a child of the gods
Odhinn's spear is my staff
Thorr's hammer is my strength
I ride the golden-bristled swine.

Throughout my days
I am never alone
for the Disir of my line
always comfort me.

The girdle of the Brisings
reveals my allies
The silent helpers
of the hidden worlds

I can never be lost
when Tyr shines
so bright above
the layered path

Homeward bound 'oer
howling mountain peaks
I follow the flight
of the ravens

To the narrow shelf
I climb to rest
at the feet
of the High One."
