Folksoul
(Song Lyrics
© 2003 Gunnsmith)
I can feel in my hands
the drawn bow, and the hard grip of the long blade..
heard shouts and steel clash of foot and horse fought battles..
saw arrow flights that darkened sky.
Watched the sweep of longships dance on waves.. rowed through justone
reefs..
and sailed the open seas..
I remember.
Bright hair oer red beards,
sunburnt arms and oarhands of calloused leather.. flayed cod and hearth
cakes,
a ringing anvil and the breath of a forge fire.
Hard laughs by firelight,
and gutteral verbs,
stories and sudden rages on a slight..
breath smoke in cold and crimson snow.
I remember.
The sound of waves on
a boat hull.. the changing wind...
Folksoul? thats just a
word. Many words we have ..
but only one life living.
Many lives we lived.. but no words, until we find the key..
the lock lies within.
Over a battle flies a
Raven.. and there, oer a newborn child.
The sacred water flows in blood, and in the sea..
is the memory.
Unfathomable.. knowing.
