Eldest, Elder and Earthly Kin
(© 2004 Rhonda Rogge-Turner)

Walking within the woods---surrounded by the wind's soft sigh,
'Tis an encounter of enclosure---of Earth and Sky.

One's EI-Self awakens---within this woodland ur-altar,
Past/Present meld and merge---sure footsteps shall not falter.

Eldest Kin and Elder Kin---ay walk these woods with me,
On Raven's wings, Spider's web---or a towering Tree.

Omens of Air and Earth---Gebo's link-gift for Gods and Men,
Bright beings of Z-exchange---ever our Earthly Kin.

I am warmly welcomed---by this place of Awe-power,
Through all the sacred seasons---at each and every hour.

To Earth and Sky, North, South, West, East---Ice, Fire, Wave, and Wind,
Praise-poems I fain shall offer---Ygg's runes I shall send.

I hold the horn on high---to honor the Holy Host,
Eldest, Elder, and Earthly Kin---hear this Heathen's boast!

I pledge and promise---love and loyalty from my heart,
Throughout all days and in all ways---never shall we part!

By Fire and Ice, by Water and Wind, by Well and Tree,
By Earth and Sky, by Moon and Sun, So It Ay Shall Be!
