Not first was I
to fall for thy charms
in thy presence, O' lady of Saxony
blessed am I indeed

A wonder of beauty
of love and compassion
if man's passions be blind
then a goddess, be before me

Yet, my heathen rose of winter
such sorrow I feel
for the love in your heart
to another, it belongs

My lady of grace, and honour
a leave I now take
but forget thee, I shall not
O' great lady, of Saxony!
