Introduction to Rune Rede: Wisdom and Magick for the Life Journey.

Foreword

Rune Rede is composed to guide readers on an easy path of information gathering and practical applications. Its lore extends from the earliest period of rune usage to the present.

The journey begins with the Introduction - The Elder Futhark - with a visit to the oldest recorded rune system of the Germanic culture used by the mysterious masters of lore and magick - the gift of Odinn.

Then we panoramically walk through the historic valley of the runic world in chapter one - A Brief History of the Runes, to review the development and dispersal of rune lore from ancient origins to modern reconstruction.

From this platform we soar, in chapter two - The Nine Worlds, through mysterious dimensions parallel, and accessible, to our own which are inhabited by gods, elves, dwarfs, giants and supernatural beasts. Wondrous tales of description are sung to us through the ancient myths of the Nordics.

In chapter three - Soul Lore, we explore the multi-faceted nature of our being - its make up and qualities both mortal and transcendental, as revealed down to us by our ancestral and present day mystics, magicians and healers.

We have explained to us in chapter four - Time and Probability, the ancient concepts of synchronicity in relation to our perception of reality and the secrets of using our will to influence life changes.

In chapter five - Divination, we peer into the reflective waters of consciousness that show us methods of perceiving events and their meanings within the multiverse of existence.

Now deeper into the mountains we hike in chapter six - The Runic Code, to be given the key to unlock the arcane wisdom-chest of runic correspondence, numerical connectivity and primal laws that shape the lives and rebirths of all entities.

Into the hall of the lore masters we gather, in chapter seven - Freyja's Aett, chapter eight - Hagal's Aett and chapter nine - Tyr's Aett, to focus ourselves in concentrated study of the twenty four runes of the Elder Futhark with their associated mythology, correspondences, divinatory meanings and detailed pragmatic counsel.

In chapter ten - Crafting Your Own Runes, we venture into the woods to be taught ways of choosing the best materials and methods to handcraft and magickally prepare our own set of rune staves.

Seating ourselves quietly within a dappled forest clearing, in chapter eleven - Preparation for Casting, we practice the arcane methods of tuning our beings into the web of existence. We contact our inner selves and connect with the numinous forces in readiness for our divination.

In chapter twelve - Casting and Reading the Runes, we are shown various methods, with examples, to enable us to practice a wide range of divinatory techniques to investigate the hidden patterns, to our advantage, of the internal and external worlds of reality.

The last lesson from our wisdom warders, chapter thirteen - Magickal Applications of the Runes, is the secret lore of applied rune magick. Not only is it useful to gather power for the journeyman but it can stimulate self-actualisation, through discipline and trust, for every one who seeks greater control of their own destiny.

The Appendix invites us to review the historical rune system variations, other than the Elder Futhark, that developed within the far-flung tribes of the runic culture. Ranging from the Anglo-Saxon times, through the Viking Age, to 20th century Germany their staves, origins, lore and meanings.

The Glossary provides an instant reference for all names and terms their meanings, origins and associations - used throughout this journeyman's handbook.

The Bookhoard besides being a record of references used for Rune Rede is a valuable resource for those wishing to discover more about the profound ancestral wisdom that is embodied in the runes.
